Raising Sexually Healthy Kids: A Toolkit for Parents and Caring Adults

Al Vernacchio

Adolescence is both an exciting and challenging time for both teens and their parents. While there is no effective way to prevent teen’s exposure to our highly sexualized society, there are ways to help them engage with it in a responsible, value-informed, and deliberate way. Helping adolescents think about sexuality in a positive rather than a fear-based way is essential to the development of healthy sexuality. How can parents introduce these topics to their teens? How do we help adolescents see the positive aspects of healthy sexuality and prepare them to negotiate the challenges they will face? Join sexuality educator Al Vernacchio for an evening of conversation and practical advice about these important topics.
