Over the past 40 years, a huge change has occurred in American culture: the transfer of authority from parents to children. Children today often choose their meals, their engagement with social media and sometimes even their school. As a result of these and other numerous factors, today’s children are more likely to be less physically fit, overweight and to become anxious or depressed compared with kids 30 years ago.

This presentation addresses: How can we find the right balance of authority, as parents, to promote inner strength in our children? Dr. Sax will share practical tips for parents regarding how to: strike the right balance between structure and freedom; allow children to experience and learn from volatility; identify and limit use of detrimental social media; ensure children get enough sleep and instill a love of learning for its own sake. As children develop character, they build a life-long foundation for success in every domain.
