Co-Hosted by: The Peddie School (FREE in person & online), 201 S. Main St., Hightstown, NJ 08520
Join us for an enlightening evening as we follow-up on the discussion we began on 2/6/24 with Prof. Chris Dede!
In this event, we'll delve deeper into the dynamic world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in K-12 education, emphasizing practical and logistical aspects of engaging with Generative AI . This presentation and discussion session is tailored for parents who are keen to understand the impact and possibilities of AI in their children's education. Our goal is to provide a clear, accessible overview of how AI is beginning to transform the educational landscape, from lesson planning to material creation and enhancing student engagement.
During this interactive event, we will explore the practical applications of AI in classrooms and discuss the benefits and challenges of integrating this technology into our children's learning experiences. Parents will gain insights into how AI can support educators and enhance the educational journey of students.
We encourage an open dialogue, so come prepared with your questions and thoughts. This is a unique opportunity to understand the role of AI in education from a parental perspective, ensuring that you are well informed and equipped to guide your children through the emerging landscape of AI-enhanced learning.
We value your input! Please take 1 min. to complete this SURVEY by Feb. 9th to guide the design of the event.* * * * * * * *

- The Center for AI Safety: "We believe that artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to profoundly benefit the world, provided that we can develop and use it safely. However, in contrast to the dramatic progress in AI, many basic problems in AI safety have yet to be solved. Our mission is to reduce societal-scale risks associated with AI by conducting safety research, building the field of AI safety researchers, and advocating for safety standards."
Intelligence Augmentation via Artificial Intelligence: IA rather than AI
Christopher Dede, Ph.D.
Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024 @ 7:30p.m. - 9:00 p.m., COMPLETED
Hosted by: Yinghua International School (free online)
Join us for this 2024 PCG Speaker Series kick-off, providing a big picture view of the transformative impacts of AI.
As AI continues to dramatically change the world and the workforce that today's students will enter in the future, how should education meet the moment? How can educators shift current curriculum that may be geared toward AI's strengths, such as reckoning skills (e.g., calculations, administration and computation), summative assessments and "memory-oriented" facts, concepts and things students can easily discover on their own, moving instead towards a system focused on enhancing uniquely "human skills" such as human judgment, applied wisdom, decision-making and discernment?
Ultimately, the optimum scenario would be for a partnership of Intelligent Augmentation (IA), where humans and machines work synergistically together to be greater than their individual abilities.
"[E]ducation is . . . our mechanism for addressing the future. If there's any sector of society that needs to be forward looking, it's how you prepare young people for a world 20 or 30 years hence. You have to anticipate the future and really understand where things are going. "
